Love to see it coming along, thanks for posting the pics. I like a lot of the modified GLs some are just beautiful, but there is something special about an original machine, it brings back good memories.

Thanks fellows.

I would like to show more detail, yet is a mostly reassembly at this point. The wait now is for the remaining chrome items from the plater. The top gauge cluster is in Holland for a rebuild, so it will be the New Year for those items to be finished.

Hey, I have a line on a 1966 CL77 Honda 305 Scrambler. I hope it is my next project. action1

I was wondering what they charge for a gauge rebuilt.

The gauge rebuild was roughly 225 Euro's total for both gauges split pretty evenly coat wise. It includes most items refurbished, yet trip reset meter knob or the rubber boot cover are extras if needed. Mine did need those items too, so I think that was another 45 Euros.
The equal cost at least from Canada is the shipping both ways and our lovely 13% tax on everything. So I expect the total finished cost will be 50% for the work and 50% for the shipping and taxes. :IDTS:

Roger thank you,
This one came around a second time for my discovery. After the first offer for sale was about a year earlier mid pandemic; it sold quickly. It was originally an estate sale from a Ontario CVMG forum member. I think the purchaser discovered the restoration short cuts and decided additional restoration work was needed.

I purchased the bike to do the restoration to the best level I am capable. I learned a new skill in adding a HONDA logo stencil to the DSS reproduction seat. This seat is top quality item, as it should be. Yet, DSS cannot include a patient infringement HONDA logo on the rear of the seat cover.

Your on your own baby! lolol

Bonneville next season. :crosso Miniature class. crossy.gif

Well it will be part of my family room collection, as I have space for two more bikes, this being one. The previous CB350F and CB400F's I have restored don't work well as riders for me. Just a little too small these days even on backroads.
I will hopefully pass it on to a family member at some point if they are interested.

I have a shipment today of the last DSS shipments. I think I said that 3 shipments ago. :-D Since there is always something else. This should allow me to add the rear wheel and drive assy. The other remaining parts will be in early 2022 to finish the bike.

So I installed the rear wheel and drive chain assembly. The chain guard and the new parts in all key areas with NOS parts. New L+R chain adjuster assembly with bolts and nuts, plus a new castle nut and washer on main rear axle.

The jewelry is back

#45

Post by flyin900 »

Almost 6 months to the day I have received the chrome parts back from the plater. I have installed some of the parts and taken a few pictures of them now back on the bike. The rear tail light bracket had some chrome plating issues, so it is going back tomorrow via one of their employees who is local. That is much appreciated as an above and beyond service, since they are a two hour round trip away.
Once that part is redone then I will be looking forward to getting the gauges back from Holland to finish this project up. I still need to line the internal exhaust system with the Eastwood ceramic high temp paint. I need the weather to cooperate with some warmth, which is coming soon this month. dancr
