With the v8 262 ?

Had one of those, too bad the brakes were too small and you had to almost pull the engine to get at the back plugs.

Fit a 4 barrel to it and later just clanged out the engine to a 350.
Yep. Had to disconnect the left side motor mount and jack up the engine to get to that back plug back by the steering box. The 350 was in mine for just shy of 6 months when I totaled it.

My sister had a 262 Monza. At the time, I thought is was kinda doggish. I can see why you'd want to swap a stouter small block in there. I'm guessing a 400SBC, built, would be the ultimate sleeper.

And, slightly in keeping with this thread, toss a lo-pro blower on there and go to town.

loose it around a corner maybe?

buddy of mine had a purple coronet 440 6 pack, cool car

i had fun in my 72 cougar 351 cleveland, lost it going straight in a snowstorm on a trip up north when i stupidly decided to jab the gas (thought it was pretty gentle) to see how slick it was, back end got lose and started to swing, when i overcorrected, back end swung around the other way hard & ended up doing 360s (felt like slow mo) into a ditch but luckily no damage

Na I was drunk. Speeding on a city street and hit a guy backing out of his driveway. Nobody hurt but I still went to jail for a bit.

Even with the 262 the Monza was almost undriveable in the snow. To stop you had to slide it up to neutral or the back wheels would just sit there rotating at idle.
