That and clean title will get you a new title. I doubt that most states will deal with the bill of sale.

Sometimes it doesn't pay to be an honest/law-abiding citizen.

A couple of years ago I was parting out an old wing. Tried to sell the frame (with title) on this site, as well as ebay, craigslist, etc. Had several offers to "sell just the title" or "sell the title and the headstock plate". Ultimately turned 'em all down, and took the frame to the curb for garbage collection or the scrappers to pick up, and tore up the title. I guess I should have sold the title when I had the chance.

Just a title does no good. The VIN has to be on the tag and or stamped in to the frame. The neck with tag and title is perfectly legal and done a lot.

When I sell titled frames I give folks the choice of the whole thing or just the neck. Freight for a whole frame can be ugly. Same price of course.
