Got the Shadow home today. Pretty dirty and I don't think it was properly stored. It's a 94 so for now it's the newest bike in the stable. Gonna need some more nice weather.

Looks like it needs some love, but I've seen much worse. My step- daughter keeps saying she wants a bike, and I've looked a couple Shadows. They seem like a good dependable bike. Nice score!

We had an older 750 here a few years back. It was an ok bike but we could never get the carbs to settle in. Sold it and picked up a HD my son wanted.

Got a better look at some things today. PO said the chain broke while riding and it took a small chunk out of the case near the front sprocket. Left a hole about the size of a small nail and caused a steady leak. Threaded a screw into the hole and sealed the whole works after cleaning. I'll find out tomorrow if it holds. Cleaned out the tank and ran some fresh gas through the carb bowls. I'll hold off pulling the carbs till I see what they need. The old chain was not included so I will have to get one. The motor does turn over with the starter. Electrics seem to work except for two of the indicators. Lots of cleaning to do still. Not going to spend any money till I hear it run.

The fix didn't hold so I took another approach. Added a rubber washer to the screw and epoxied everything on install. Added more epoxy around the edges and let it set for a few. This time everything held. Rigged up some fuel and she fired up pretty quick and still no leak. Had to shut it down because it sprung a fuel leak. Redid my fuel source and fired her up again. This time everything went well. Found out she don't like running without the air cleaner/filter. Guess it's time to order a sprocket and chain set. Looking good so far.

Got the chain ans sprockets mounted and cleaned up the nasty looking rear wheel. Front wheel still needs cleaned and lots of surface rust here and there. Stuck the tank back on mixed up some gas and Seafoam and let her run for a while. Cleared a path and ran her around the block a couple of times. Did a lot of sputtering under load. Still hope the carbs will open up with a little more run time. Carb r&r doesn't look like fun. I'm pretty happy with the progress to date.

Vendor crossed me up by sending the wrong battery, not even a close match. Repaired the buddy seat and cleaned up the front wheel. Ready to button this one up and take it for a ride. Still some surface rust to work on but that don't bother me much. Could not figure out how the front wheel comes off. I'll let the new owner worry about that when they order tires. Need to take some new pics while I'm waiting for the battery.

Sold the Shadow today.
The GS550 has a small issue that it dosen't want to get up past 60 mph. All systems seem fine when tested. Float height is good, carbs are clean, advance is working, all four exhaust pipes heat up, breaks are free. He says he is using all six gears so I am out of ideas. It will be a week before I can get it back in my work area but I would sure like to hear some suggestions.

It's gravity feed with a vacuum controlled shutoff. Gas cap.....I think he told me he lost the gas cap somewhere (probably left it at the pump). I wander if not having a cap is somehow causing a starvation problem. That seems like possibility.
