I got to thinking about this nifty utility I've been taking for granted for a while. It does not get the publicity it deserves...
I don't think anyone doubts the effectiveness of craigslist. I guess most of us use it to feed our "habits" - in the States, at least. I'm not sure how familiar folks here might be of a method of taking your habit to a whole new level. For a number of years, I have been using a tool for searching craigslist called "searchtempest".
https://www.searchtempest.com/ allows you to input your search string, i.e. "Honda CBX", category, location and search radius. After it finishes (seconds), I like to hit the "OPEN ALL" button. That will open each city in a separate tab.
If you haven't tried it, BEWARE. You can easily burn a couple of hours poking around and wondering if, maybe, you can get to Tulsa and back before Monday...

Love this line^^^...anyway, I've used it many times to see whats out there, usually to my chagrin as prices are always better outside of SoCal. But yes, I've pondered many trips...desertrefugee wrote:If you haven't tried it, BEWARE. I use it also, but the annoying thing about it is too much advertising --in particular an industrial surplus site that has gobs of ads.
Still one of the best, however

Re: Craigslist Nationwide Search
Try using an ad blocker in your browser. Cleans up your browser and it will speed it up because you're not loading all those ads. I use Searchtempest from time to time and I don't see any ads. I've tried a couple of ad blockers and the one I like the best (so far) is Ublock Origin. https://www.ublock.org/
You will get a message from time to time from sites that don't like the fact that you are using an ad blocker but just ignore them, almost all the sites work normally just without the ads.

Re: Craigslist Nationwide Search
yea I been using search tempest for a couple years for bike stuff and dog crates and such for the rescue. Works very well.
Might have to try that add blocker on the weather channel. That page is getting stupid.

Don't forget that TWC was recently sold by NBC for supposedly 300 million.Whiskerfish wrote:yea I been using search tempest for a couple years for bike stuff and dog crates and such for the rescue. Works very well.

They have to try and make all that cash back.
I personally use 2 ad blockers, Unblock Origin and Admuncher.
The latter is much easier to make your own rules for different sites.
