gltriker wrote:from post#6 "tuned the engine to 97 horses on the wheel and 125 nm torque"

How did you achieve that extremely impressive increase in GL1000 engine performance?
I Have to say that know because of the driveabillity i tuned her down
The perfomance was done on a Dyno and only with full throttle and higher revs
Does'nt work on the road unfortionate But on the Quarter mile Funn funn funn under 10 seconds with eas

How i did it?
at first a smaller rear wheel helps a lot
other gl 1... heads
Inlet ports grinded and polished
outlet exhaust ports grinded and polished
Heads flattend for a higher compression
Polished and shaped in and outlet valves
custom exhaust
Custom stainles polished inlet headers
engine map tuning
Weber idf 36 carburators
And a lot of runs on the dyno bank

Know after the dyno runs I tuned it on the road
Stock heads, flattend and polished for higher compression
stock valves
A much better tuning of the webers

Why The choice of idf 36 instead of idf 40
I chose them by good luck to be honnest. It drives very good with them very good pick up and no shunting

Most of the (super) bike drivers scratch there helmets after a run from from the stoppinglight. LOL

Now the EASY shift
They are from a company who did drag racing The firm now does work for motorcyclists who have a disabillity with legs hands and other unfortinate handycaps http://www.easyshift.nl

It is a electro magnetic pulse shifter that push and pulls the rod up and down in a very fast way just with a push on the button up or down
For me because i changed the mapping i just keep open the throttle so whem i pull the clutch lever the ignition will be disrupted so you dont have the worry about your revs
It shifts so fast realy easy

The red button shifts down en the green up. simple as that

The question how many horses there are know. I really don't know. Less than 97 for shure but enough to have funn

It is not cheap indeed. For me because the bike is lower i needed the shifter because my left foot is not working very good anymore. I had it build on one of my Gl1200's and now fixed on the fast lady

Coversion of the front fork
you need
wheel bearings
axle of a kawasaki zx9r
wheel spacers
brake disc spacers
steering bearings conversion

I rebuild my front fork with showa's
First you need to know the axle size diameter of the kawasaki
you need to know the bearing size of your GL1000 the outher size of that is 42 mm
know you know that you need a bearing that is 25 inner x 42 outher and width 13

If you got that you need to space out the wheel. I made bushes on a mill machine to center out the wheel
than you need spacers for you brake disc. I took 320mm brembo discs of an aprrillia rvs mille offset 10mm

if you go to http://www.allballsracing.com you can do a front fork bearing coversion from honda to Kawasaki
Kawasaki zx9r 2002 bottom bearing 25 x 47 x width 15 99-3518-5
top bearing orginal honda gl1000 30 x 55 x width 17 99-3519-5

Know the fun begins. building it up. You need clip ons
clutch an brake levers
brake and clutch hoses
electrical wirning
headlamp rest etc etc

Beautiful effort with superb craftsmanship. But we strive for accuracy and pragmatic/realistic reporting of details here. I'm curious about your horsepower/performance description.

A 9-second GL1000 is surely unprecedented. With 125 horsepower you need to be rolling at, roughly, 650 pounds (295 kilos) or less to get below 10 seconds in the quarter. (That's motorcycle AND pilot).

You've spent time on the dyno, but have you run it down the dragstrip yet? I would be ecstatic with a 10-second Goldwing, much less one in the the 9 second realm. That's Hayabusa/Z1400 territory.
