Zero will reveal full details on Feb. 25, but what we do know is that it currently sells an SR model with 70 hp, a combined range of 150 miles per charge, the ability to accelerate to 60 mph in under 3.5 seconds and a starting price of $19,390, while the Livewire will deliver similar specifications for $29,799.

Willard and I spent a half hour with the owner of Zero a couple years back. He is a really nice guy and fun to talk with about the future of his bikes. I have no doubt the Zero will win this match.

I've said it before. Everyone thinks it's easy to do burnout.

At the time it was the quickest electric dragbike made. Not even close now.

And yes, that guy was an idiot.

That was the wrong place to do something like that on many levels. And no helmet? He's lucky if he didn't have a serious head injury. To see him lying there sprawled out like that was very disturbing. I hope he ended up ok.

I think Zero's got it. Harley relies HEAVILY on name recognition, but it invokes a style that is not anywhere close to what an electric bike delivers. But beyond that- money talks. People my age, price is SO much more important than brand, image, heck, even actual performance.

Interested to see how things shake out, but I'm confidant in my guess.

1976 GL1000 (Yellow)- It Runs (Poorly) and Doesn't Leak (Mostly)
1974 Velosolex 3800- Better Than Walking
1972 CB750- Broke the Chain And Ate the Motor
1969 CT90- The Most Fun You Can Have on 90ccs.
1965 CA77 Dream- Needs a Full Teardown, but Complete

All advice I give is only valid until an expert corrects me.

Sadly, I think Harley will go the way of Kodak, a huge name buried by more modern tech at an affordable price.
Not that I'm a fan of disposable products but even recent Harleys are hardly(!) infinitely repairable
