Superwedge wing!

#1

Post by Gowing »

My new friend Andy, just bought his first goldwing. He found this in our town and had to have it.
16000 mile 1977 with a super wedge on it. Andy has already tore into it.

Um, ah, wow, lol! I can't recall ever seeing a fairing quite like that (and I don't think I could forget...). Anyway, looks like a nice score!

Yeah, this has come up before regarding that faring. I remain convinced, as I did before, that it is the single most hideous looking fairing ever attached to a motorcycle.

Easy, Andy is going to join and tell us about his restoration and ask for help. I think the fairing looks
just fine. Let us down easy.

Andy, Sorry and I'll say three Hail Marys, but one of the first things you really should do is lose the fairing. Then we should all purge remaining images from hard drive caches.

Andy, you should realize that this is NAKED GoldWings, and we don't particularly like fairings in general. Yours is not being singled out. Now, I love the fairing on my '06, but would never allow one on my '78.

Wouldnt be too bad if the bike stripes matched the fairing strips in direction and size.

Hello all! Thanks for the recent comments. Yes, the fairing is definitely a 'love it or hate it' item. I actually like the hideousness of it, and is actually one of the things that made me notice the bike in the classifieds. I don't necessarily plan to run the fairing once rebuilt, but purchased it due to the fact that it seems like a fairly rare item, and would like to install on another Wing in the future, perhaps a fully dressed show bike, in proper late 70's style. Understood this site is for Naked Goldwings - this is the plan for my new '77. I look forward to discussing this bike further, and learning from you all. Thanks in advance!

Welcome Andy. You sure do have the right attitude! You’ll fit in here quite well.

And I actually may have been wrong when I said that the Superwedge is the single most unattractive faring ever attached to a motorcycle. I believe that distinction may belong to the Bates clipper ...

I mean, it's not a 'wing, but surely the Vetter option for the KZ1300 scores some points on sheer width alone.

Andy!
My GL1000 not only has a fairing, but an automotive rear axle, too!
Like your GL, it came to me with the fairing installed. The trike axle, I added.
You will fit in here just fine. This is a place of diversity and acceptance. ;)
