Project fodder or junk? Three Honda Hulks

I blamed Lucien for the Voyager. I blame JohnnyNumbers for this...

Some of you might recall that I am elbows deep into the custom Kawasaki project. So why, you ask, would I acquire three, yes 3, complete Honda basket cases? Well, mainly because they were dang near free. This gentleman passed away after a lengthy illness recently and had these motorcycles on his Phoenix back porch for who knows how many years. His son is looking to get rid of them. Mr. Numbers was a friend and mentioned them to me, so I guess I'm the lucky recipient...

They go into the shed - for a rainy day - and you know how many of those we have here in Phoenix.

Anyway, 78 CB750F sohc. This is a really what I was interested in, but it was all or nothing. It appears to be mostly complete, but is a real mess. I don't even know what's under all the filth yet, but I don't expect too much. The tank is somewhere in the garage needs to be located. Fingers crossed on that... The pipe dream is that it could be a restoration candidate, but more likely a custom.

There's also a 76? 750 in about a hundred pieces. This is just a parts Locker for the 78 I think .

Then there's the CB400T Type I. It appears to be all there, but being outside on a back porch even in Arizona has taken its toll. Not worth nothing, but it's not worth much either.

I haven't seen them yet, as the titles are being transferred to the wife so they can legally be sold. JN has seen them and seems to think that there might be some potential. There are titles! Looks like the transfer will be finalized in a few weeks weeks.

So, I either have a couple of viable project candidates in the pipeline, or a whole bunch of junk. I think at the very least, I have a bunch of parts that I can sell off. Either way, looks like more fun ahead in the not-too-distant future.

Lucky you, lol! I think you've now surpassed me in the ownership of 'hulks.' I will say that you're much more competent at getting them back on the road, lol!

Ha! Well, we will see about that. For now I'll probably just hose them off to see what's under all the grime. It's remotely possible that I will make a stab at getting the 400 running and sellable for a reasonably quick flip. Don't even have them in my posession yet, so any plans are just speculation at this point.

Hard to tell until you get them cleaned up a bit. My CB750 started like that (albiet in worse shape) that I figured was pretty salvageable, but the more I cleaned up the more rust holes I started to find...

Who knows. You might get lucky. If nothing else parting them out should get you something. Best of luck!

1972 CB750- Broke the Chain And Ate the Motor

1965 CA77 Dream- Needs a Full Teardown, but Complete

Well, titles have been converted. I’ll go pick up the pile on Saturday morning.

Wish me luck. I think I will need it.

Back in the Spring, I bought a junk '79 GL1000. I've been surprised at the things I have used off of it rescuing another '79.

Yep. I guess eventually there will be one 750. The 400 is going to be in and out - probably first to see action in the shop.
