I used to drive fast all the time but as I approach 70 I am slowing down a little--my fastest bike was a 2002 ZZR1200 --it was a monster, it didn't even wake up til around 90-100mph. I have seen 140-145 several times on that bike, I find I have a personal rev limiter that makes me worried at that speed. Never went to a track. Previous fast bike was a 78 KZ1000, around 130 on that one, flat out. Fastest Goldwing--1978 GL1000, about 110 flat out. Yesterday on my current '79 GL1000 I went 90 mph, it seemed out of breath, I have a one-piece Plexifairing on it, I push a lot of wind. It will be difficult to go 100 on it.

Back in ‘87 I was slightly south of 170mph on the M40 in Buckinghamshire U.K. on my Kawasaki GPZ1000 RX. Awesome bike and in those days traffic was light. Nowadays I occasionally touch 150 on my CBR600RR but risky given the volume of traffic. The 71’T125 stinger and 75’ GL1000 are just for cruising! I have other bikes as well.

My xs650 was at 110 plus and my friends 75gl1000 went right by me. I thought the gl1000’s would go over 125mph. Went 143 on 97 1200 bandit, it took for ever and was bumping red line, no limiter. I would be surprised if our speedometers where accurate.

Sick as a dog leaving a bike rally with pneumonia. Chills, fever etc. Hit the highway for a 150 mile ride home. Kept drifting in and out of traffic and awareness. On my 97 valkyrie. 110-115 at least. My poor wife was on the back scared to death. I asked her why she didn't stop me. She said she was afraid to at that speed. Scary stuff when it's unintentional. I'd imagine that was all it would do. I really just drifted along heading home. Can't believe we didn't get stopped.

I was up to an indicated 110 mph on my 75, tucked down between my guages, when I started thinking about how old the motor was and what would happen if it came apart. Drifted back down to the 70 mph speed limit.

I saw indicated 125 on my original '75.
Saw 140 many times in my Ford Sierra XR4i
That was when you could. No way you can do that now with cameras every couple of miles.

Best trip on the 75 was 310 miles in 3hr 45 mins, including a fuel stop. I was a lot younger then!
