after my husband had been stolen from his CBX for 22 years, my husband bought another one, always gray and always from 78 from Canada, he was only 2300 km long, he was impeccable, but stopped for 11 years. it was the biggest motorcycle mistake of his life. The carburetors have been disassembled and washed with ultrasound 9 times, and each time a new kit of O-rings, before the motorcycle started to work well, spent a madness, every intervention on the carburetors, disassembly, washing, overhaul, balance and reassembly, it cost from 250 to 350 euros, spent a fortune and lost 8 months. When they saw him on that motorcycle, they all went to hide at the Honda dealership because they no longer knew what to do. a Honda Inspector came specifically to view the CBX, but without solving the problem. It went on with 5 cylinders, usually the first cylinder on the left didn't work, only when it had warmed up very well did it start to go. At other times he ran out of fuel from the third carburettor from the right, at other times he did not rev up. Now peer luck works very well and flies like a plane.

Although I am fairly comfortable working on GoldWing carburetors, if I had a CBX they would go to J.R. Luksik (CBX-tras) for rebuild. I have met him, and seen the quality of his work.
Yeah, I had our own Mike Nixon go through the carbs a while back. Then I made the mistake of letting the bike sit for about six months with, apparently, insufficient fuel treatment. But, it ran gloriously for a season! Alas, it looks good only in the garage...for now.
Perhaps I do, in fact, have one motorcycle too many!

I'm a little late to this party, but what the heck.
I've got kind of a Sith "Rule of Two" thing going on in my stable that my wife seems to want to maintain. I could probably get another one by her at some point maybe if I pushed. I always assumed that my next bike would be in a different category than my current two, maybe a comfortable cruiser or an adventure bike or something. Since I've been working on my GL1000 though, I think I'm hoping that one day I can score a LTD in decent condition. Capture a little more of that history. I've been super frustrated with mine at times (I have a tendency to break things) and have gone way deeper down the rabbit hole then I intended to go, but I know in the end it'll be worth it.

Although, I've always wanted one of those big ol' Valkyries. And one of those big, new, Adventure bikes would be cool. And I might actually buy a two-wheel drive Ural with a sidecar. Oh, and a CRF230 could be the perfect trail bike for my area. I also want to build a Ducati Monster scrambler, and a V-Max drag bike. I need a buddy bike as well, so maybe more like twenty...

Got a chuckle out of this one. If you have 11, you might as well go ahead and bite the bullet and call yourself a hoarder. Close enough to 12. I recently picked up my third VMAX and in my opinion, they are all drag bikes, even those in Factory trim.
I currently have seven in the garage, and if I had to keep only one it would be a tough decision between the 78 gl1000 and the valkyrie.

Years ago i was friends with jerry heil.he owned hannigan fairings in paris arkansas.he quit and went riding a few years ago.his building was 2 story.he owned and fairinged about 4 oldwings, klr 650, even a valkyrie. He had a velocette and several other bikes. I said jerry you have too many motorcycles. His response was you cant have too many motorcycles, but you can have too little space.

Unfortunately I don’t think I will ever know the answer to this one. I picked up another Vmax yesterday, but it’s a first year ‘85. Very needy, but all there and low miles. The price was ridiculously low… $200!! Came with an extra Kerker full pipe easily worth $500. It joins my now well-sorted, one owner ‘86.
I can’t help it. I think I need a 12 step program…
