Bit the bullet

Post by 77Gowing »

Well, took my Scout out for a good ride in ranch country. Bike drives great but the seat (my second one) is an absolute PITA!!!!!
So, since I love my GW seat with Corbin gun fighter I ordered a Corbin "Brave" seat for my Scout. Now my keister hurts for a different reason. Lol

Sounds like a good call. I like Corbin seats and have them on three of my bikes. I was ready to sell my 1200 Bandit because my rearend hurt so bad after only 30 minutes. Instead, on the advice of a friend, I popped for a Corbin seat and it transformed the bike. After that I had to have them on a couple of long distance bikes of mine as well and all 3 of them are all day comfy.

Hope yours works that well too.

Sometimes it takes a thousand miles of seat time to completely break in a new seat.

Wow, a thousand miles of a throbbing butt. I rode 360 miles one day to get it to a dealer for a simple 1 hr recall service. Man was I a wreck when I got home. Last time I rode it I was on it 1.5 hrs though and it had just barely started to hurt. So maybe you're right.
Still getting the Corbin though.

I'll report my findings.
Thanx

Reminds me of the first long ride in my '77. 1.5 hours each way on the original (well broken in by previous owners) seat and I learned the meaning of "Honda butt". A few days later I figured out how to switch to the seat from the Dnepr...

Well I heard from Corbin on my seat order. It seems I screwed the pooch on my order form and they were confused by my comment that went with the order. So they called me and we got that all sorted out. Lucky thing too cause I selected the wrong seat design for my model. They were gracious about it and helped me correct my order.
I'll be getting the seat by eom in may.

It's a wonder I get anything successfully done at all. Still, I do have a good runner inspite of my stumbles.
It must be that angel purched oposite on my other shoulder from the little devil's side. Lol

Very few understand the need for a seat to "break in" to the rider. Depending on the seat, this process can take as much as a year, before it conforms to your individual comfort zone. I don't give up on an aftermarket seat until it is broken in. Ya' jus gotta give em a chance. I think most give up way too early, and go on to the next seat. My stock seat on the Scout is just starting to get right; looks brand new, but 4 years old. Good luck to ya'!

I must admit I'm a wimp. I cannot imagine riding my scout more than 1,5 hrs cause after that the pain is excruciating. Four years you say? I guess since the scout does not have much range pushing my lard butt around I guess I will just use it for short jaunts.
What can I say...I'm a wimp. But I can sit on my gl1000 Corbin gf almost all day. And it has barely 1k miles on it.

Still getting the new seat but will kindly take your advice no matter what seat I end up with.
I appreciate your help very much. dancr dancr
