Hey All, just though I'd share a bit of info, esp. for Canadians or northeast USA members. I was having issues with some used Hagons I got a real steal of a deal on out of some guy's parts bin ($40). They didn't leak but were stiff as a board. I ended up calling up an outfit in Nova Scotia that sells Hagons called British Cycle Supply Company. Guy's name is Mark. He gave me some instructions on how to take em apart, test the dampers, and figure out what springs I have. Lots of back and forth with measurements to figure out what springs I needed. My dampers were totally fine but springs were really heavy 30kg springs, no wonder they were so rough for a single 170lb rider. Standard is 26kg. Got some 23kg springs he had in stock on the way for only $99 cdn. Really impressed with their customer service and solid pricing! Price on a set of complete shocks for a GL1000 is 299 cdn, they'll build em with the damping rate, spring rate, and spring type (chrome/black and slim/wide) that you prefer for your weight/riding style. I was really impressed with the amount of time the guy spent helping me adapt the old units I had rather than just selling me a new set. Highly Recommended!

Thanks for posting this info. Shocks for our older bikes are quickly becoming obsolete. Would be interesting to find out what shock(s) he would recommend for a 1200.

Hey 198luxbe sure and let us know what you think of the new springs once you get them installed. My 78 rear shocks are progressive and even on the lightest setting feel a bit like a buckboard. Am thinking of investing in some new shocks to ease the jolt to my spine on some of those almost imperceptible dips. Maybe some lighter progressive springs would do the trick as well. I ride her naked, one up with a rather stiff Corbin gunfighter seat.

Good deal. I had previously gotten my Hagons from Dave Quinn but he closed up shop in 18. Nice to know there is another source.
