Hi all. Looking forward to getting at her but my shop is currently harbouring my 78 1000 which requires some tach work. Will get that done and role the suzuki in before it get too cold and work on it over the winter. Took the tank off yest and it looks very clean. I think it must have been drained before storage, even the petcock screens are GR8. Thanks for the comments.

Mark, I especially like the 78 Gl1000 (Candy Limited Maroon) on your list. I bought a 79 which I think was the same color (name) brand new back in the day. Always did like that one and is one of the reasons that I enjoy my 78 so much.
I have a set of 1997 Sportster slip ons coming as the oem mufflers have seen better days. Don't want loud but an exhaust note with a bit of authority would be OK!!

Yep I am hoping so. Have several goodies being shipped as we speak. air & oil filter, front turn signals, shifter oil seal. fork seals, battery, sporster mufflers. No such thing as a cheap bike. Several other things needed but I am going to stop ordering till the bike is running. Thanx for your comment.

Just a quick update on the "Suzie" project. Have gotten a few things done:
-a pretty thorough cleanup
-Carbs ultrasound cleaned
-new air filter
-new starter solenoid
-battery box out, sanded and painted
-front turnsignals bought & installed.
-oil changed
-engine bits polished
-engine has been started and runs quite nicely
-waiting for a few more bits from the dealer & caliper seals etc. from the UK
And yes she will be naked when finished

Another update: Still plodding along!
-new headlight installed
-front reflectors
-brakes disassembled/cleaned & new rubbers installed
-cracked tail cowling mount repaired
-new front tire (shinko 712)
-forks seals replaced
-forks polished
-stands taken off & repainted/lubed
-engine bits all polished
-petcock internals replaced to fix leak
Waiting for new rear tire (Shinko 712)& recycled grab rail to arrive
That will leave the exhaust to be fitted with adapters for Sportster slip-ons
Maybe get to ride her this spring!

It is a small heated part of my garage, If I don't label and bag everything it gets lost. If I was to stand on the other side of the bike to take pics you would sometimes see armageddon, two work benches without any free space!

Yes it is an air cooled mid CC size bike, kind of hoping it will be fun to ride. At my age fun is a fleeting thing!

Gettin there. Still have a bit of a leak on the front MC reservoir and will put mirrors back on after she comes out of the shop. Oem were in good shape after some TLC. Looking forward to spring for a shakedown cruise.
