The GL 100002 and its 100 differeces

Post by Paola Zago »

I was reading for the umpteenth time the interesting story of the restoration of the Gl 1000 1.000.002 by Peter Boody. we read that between the pre-series and production models, there are over 100 differences. curiosity is female, and I would like to enrich my cultural background on the Gl 1000, what are these differences, obviously not all, but the main ones. as a layman I noticed only those visible in the photographs, the writing behind the saddle, the instrument sticker for the petrol level, the "GL" sticker on the side panels and the water pump cover. someone help me?

The shelter side panels release by a button inside the shelter. Carbs are a lot different as they are modified automotive carbs. There are lots of photos online if you search for them. Many on the Pistol Pete's Services https://www.facebook.com/pistolpetesservices/ Facebook page. GL100002 had to have frame welding as it had been "dismantled" by the instructor as a part of classes. Rewelding was poor, so those welds were ground out and a local nuclear welder (also a GoldWing rider) corrected. "Pistol Pete" Boody was the guy who restored it. A genuine gentleman that we lost last summer. A master of the oldwing carbs. I was blessed to meet and even show my "Hunley" with him in 2017 WingDing in Knoxville. The carb garnishes were of course different, but the '75 garnishes are different from the others.
