Yes, wow! You do nice work, great to see old bikes saved from the scrap pile. A friend bought the GT550 new and my brother had the GT380, both were very smooth and good running. Enjoy riding it.

Re: GT550
I had a GT185 once, kept holing a piston.
Got rid of it.
A few years later, I see it riding through my neighborhood.
Introduced myself, and we end up becoming good friends to this day!
and, he holed a piston too!

Re: GT550
Beautiful!
Although I never had a chance to ride a 2 wheeled motorcycle, I was always intrigued by the styling and power of the late 60s and 70s 2 stroke road bikes.
What year is this GT550?

Re: GT550
Those things irritate me every time I see them. I was one of the last of the British hold outs. I was still riding my Bonneville when the guys I hung out with started down the UJM path. (Path I eventually took too, I confess).
But why do they irritate me? Because my beloved Bonneville 650 got regularly trounced by one of those that a friend of mine picked up. The smell of two-stroke smoke reminds me of that lesson from long ago.
You did a really good job on that thing. I was at a show last weekend, and there were more two strokes in attendance than I have seen in a vintage motorcycle show in a long time. Looks like they are enjoying a bit of a Renaissance. Your timing is good.
