strange fairing

#1

Post by Paola Zago »

a colleague seeing my yellow GL told me that in 2019 he was in Bostron for work and in two months he met three or four times a gentleman of a certain age who drove a yellow GL with a large fairing that had a very long nose with two large fananli - I showed him photographs of Vetter fairings, but he says it was much more protruding and very ugly, although the driver was proud of it. what fairing is it ???

Yea, if words like ugly are used, typically Bates clippers are at the head of the class!

I showed the photograph to my colleague and he confirmed it was exactly that fairing! terrible !!! maybe you don't have to love your motorcycle to make it so ugly !! black maybe it can be "elegant", but yellow you said it was a punch in the eye!
Thanks for the replies

Every time I see a picture of one of those, I throw up a little bit in my mouth.

Saw one on a BME R100RT. He added water injection and the water bottle was in the nose of the fairing ! Kind of grows on you though. Personally I never cared for the Windjammer on the GL1100 as protection was not all that good !

For people who use the bike for long distance touring part of the appeal of the Bates fairing was that there is cargo space in that extended nose. If you are going to be on the road for weeks at a time and don't want to have to tie things to the outside of the bike where they are exposed to wind & weather and are easily stolen when you have to leave the bike unattended extra storage space can be very important.

I once saw one of those painted yellow, on a yellow wing, with yellow wrap around bags with integrated trunk. Needless to say, it was YELLOW
