Absolutely stunning restoration. Combination of patience and know how. Hard to believe the end result. Well worth the watch. Thanks for posting this.

You’re welcome. I really enjoyed the home-brew techniques and presentation.

I saw this a few months ago. While I might question some of the stuff he did I put it in my Reference Videos list on YouTube because there are some techniques in that video I would like to try like his method of copper plating and the way he blackened the parts (I wonder how well those would hold up in road salt).

BTW: I wondered how he was going to get the tires onto the painted rims without scratching the paint. Those tires must have very "soft" beads to go on without levers and even so he did chip the paint in a couple of spots. And the back tire looked very soft when he pulled away on it....

Very cool video and awesome work, but I was surprised that he didn't use a little lube to get the tires on. Pushing them on dry will definitely scratch the paint. And then he took it out in the snow? Nooooo!

What, you wanted him to go to all that trouble and not use it as it was intended to be used?

Besides, the only sure way to resist taking a sidecar outfit out to play in the snow is to have a second outfit for winter :orange :orange :orange

in the countries of Eastern Europe and in the former Soviet Republic, due to necessity and lack of means, many people have become self-taught capable of incredible things even with little equipment available. My partner, in 1981 during a trip to Czechoslovakia with a Honda CX had broken the front rim due to a hole in the asphalt. they found a blacksmith in a workshop without electricity, who with a hammer, a hand drill, salvaged metal plates, copper rivets and pitch, fixed the rim so well that the tubeless tire held the pressure throughout the rest of the trip and for the return to Italy. I know a German who buys in the Italian markets all the Vespas and Lambrettas that are cheap, real wrecks that he then exports to Poland where he has skilled and very cheap artisans, they bring them back as new, and then he sells them in Japan and the USA. .
Out of curiosity, look for the videos of Arthur Tussik, an automobile coachbuilder.
