Tech section wiring diagram question

#1

Post by flyin900 »

The one diagram with the Common Honda wiring colours at the very bottom of the page on the last entry with the yellow wire on the starter solenoid. It shows as just a yellow colour where I believe it should be a yellow wire with a red stripe.

I have found this and the other schematics to be excellent and invaluable in the wiring work that is sometimes necessary. I appreciate that Sidecar Bob did all this work initially and just wondered if this needs an update, or if it is correct.

Actually works for the most part on my '72 Triumph T150V. I rewired to negative ground and used Honda colors!

Interesting. I compiled that chart from other wire colour lists I found on the internet because I had noticed various errors in all of the ones I had seen. I didn't check everything on it but I'm fairly familiar with the colours used so I thought I had most of them right and if there were errors I would hear about them in short order.
It took almost 10 years before anyone spotted one (I hope there aren't any others that none of us have noticed).

All of the Honda wiring drawings I have show that the wire in question should be yellow/red so you are absolutely correct.

Here is the corrected version of the drawing. If someone can tell me how to replace the image in my gallery with this one without changing the address so that all of the links to the chart still work I will gladly do that

Thanks for the correction, as it was a pretty small difference, yet someday 10 years from now it may save someone from scratching their head.

Cheers

Lots of head scratching going on nowadays let alone ten years from now.

Bob - have you found a Canadian source for coloured/striped wire?

Just the box of wires salvaged from scrapped bikes & appliances I keep for when I need to match something.

So does anyone know how to replace the image in my gallery without changing its address?

That might be tricky. Not sure it can be done but I will look at it.

THAT is Awesome!! Rather than having to look at the schematic and chase down what goes where; seriously Bob, that is a Huge help, esp. the "From" and "To"! That will make diagnosing stuff a lot faster. I printed that out and glued it to a piece of posterboard. Nice!

Bob Think I got it swapped out. I updated your original post (referenced in Shoptalk) with the new url so that is good. If you find any others you just need to replace the number of the file in the url. This should only affect links that go directly to the large version 1389649629 needs to be changed to 1667047400. The smaller version hopefully will update automatically.

Also I had to change the file name and remove the (Rev. 2022) from it.
