Two Former BOM's In One Place

#1

Post by tomk1960 »

My good friend Phil lives down on Cape Cod, just a half hour from our little summer cottage in Plymouth. My mildly modified burgandy 78 GL is my vacation bike and resides here. Phil also has a burgandy 78, although his is highly modified. We got together this morning for some great riding and lunch, followed by more great riding.

At different times, we were both honored with Bike of the Month recognition, so it only seemed fit that they should be photographed together. How many times has more than one BOM been in the same picture?

Three in a picture would be cool, but I don't know of any others within an hour or two of here, or even in Massachusetts for that matter.

I'm rarely as far south as the Cape on a naked GL, but I do occasionally drop down into Mass at times on a BOTM Wing. I'm up in Maine.

If you're ever planning to battle the traffic to loop around Boston and up toward New Hampshire or the border with Maine, reach out. I could meet. If you wanted a shot by the water, we could meet near Salem or even up at Hampton Beach in NH.

I've been working on one for the last couple of years. Not sure I have another one in me. As they say, "life gets in the way" I must say that you are now, and for years, been an inspiration to me. Stay strong.....we will always have Paris.

Not exactly BOM bikes but it was nice tooling around Ottawa with my former
78 and present 79, that looks like a 78.

Buddy and I got some looks.

Speaking of Mid-Ohio, my brother can't make it this year, so I'm riding solo. More than likely I'll ride down my yellow '76 (which was lucky enough to be July's BOTM last year) and see about putting it in the show.

I don't know for sure because I'm sketchy on some of the details (Is there pre-registration? Do you have to be part of an organization?), but either way it'll be tootling around somewhere.
1997 Valkyrie- Light Cutomization, but Too Busy Riding
1980 KZ1300- Bike's Haunted
1976 GL1000 (Yellow)- It Runs (Poorly) and Doesn't Leak (Mostly)
1974 Velosolex 3800- Better Than Walking
1972 CB750- Broke the Chain And Ate the Motor
1969 CT90- The Most Fun You Can Have on 90ccs.
1965 CA77 Dream- Needs a Full Teardown, but Complete

All advice I give is only valid until an expert corrects me.
