I have found that removing the tank is easier than getting it back in. Patience is required for both r&r.
I am a fan of "The Works" toilet bowel cleaner for cleaning out rusty tanks.
Been riding Hondas since 1964.

I have to pull my tank for cleaning, but now I'm wondering if there is a good method of cleaning out the tank while in the bike ????

Matt / Grumpy Chef, try looking here. http://ngwclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9142 I did it in my bike several years ago and no issues. Be patient, clean the bolt from time to time and you will have a clean tank.

You could also buy a 5 gallon pail Evapo-Rust http://www.evaporust.com/evaporust.html, first empty your tank completly then fill with product wait 48 hours, drain, rinse, fill with gas and you are done

Great info Todd and Flat4Ben .... Gonna look into using the electrolytic process... a $100 seems a bit steep to clean a tank, but if it means a quick and clean method, it might be worth it...
Thanks....

ImageThe pic shows what you're shooting for.
Tip: remove shocks, battery box, rear master from the frame, then detach swing arm from frame and roll the whole assembly out.
