75/78 NKDGL1000

#1

Post by majorweakness »

Hi all.
I bought a 75 gl1000 with ideas to chop it but decided the frame and shaft drive didn't suit my timeline. I hated the 75 faux tank and put a 78 on. Lowered front and rear, 18" rear rim which I plan a 4" width to fit a 150 tyre. Up front is a 21" rim. I'm looking for a triple front headlight and indicator arrangement and a slightly lower seat, shortened about 4". My bike has been a nightmare for a first timer and the jury is still out on the compression. It has resulted in a new ignition system for the GW market though. Made by trispark here in my hometown. Tim.

If the bike sat idle for a good stretch the compression often comes back with a few hundred miles of riding.

Hi all. Yes I'm in Adelaide SA. My aim is to not make a cafe racer, so I'm not after a slim bone crusher seat, just a subtle change. I'm getting fender blanks in fibreglass to shape them right then making metal ones. I've been using 3d software to give me ideas on fitting and appearance. I'll post some 3d images of it.

Keep an eye out for a GW version. He sells for about $350US.
I'll be taking photos of the install and setup soon.
I had used 2 dynatek s prior. 1 died completely, the second was so tricky to setup. I'll ask Stephen the designer for a description of what it does. Pretty sure it actively adjusts dwell and timing to achieve RPM. uses hall effect for reference.

That's good to know. It came to me with 95 psi on all cylinders. I actually rode it before that but the carbs weren't synced and whilst it wasn't a rocket, it went to 50mph no problems. I replaced rings and checked valve seal and it looked ok to me. I'm only getting 115 psi now with iron rings in, no actual running other than to tune, so no load yet.
Idle is good and strong, starts first time, I've got some throttle bind somewhere still though but not enough for concern.

What would be the best forum to get some recommendations on triple headlight and seats as well etc?

My guess: Goldwing Underground Customization viewforum.php?f=16

Google search is at the top of the page. After searching any thread, go to the bottom of the page and suggested posts with similar descriptor are listed.

If you're directed to a build with 50 pages, there is also another search button at the top of the topic which says, "Search this topic" which can get you there faster.
