Hi all;
I've been looking for a 1st Gen "Naked" Wing for a while, and finally got one.
1st Gen owners who have been following a guy named "Amesie" on YouTube will recognize this bike as one that he did several YouTube demonstrations on - Magneto upgrade, Timing Chain Idler Upgrade, and a few others.
I picked up the bike on Wednesday in Haverhill MA, and trailered it home to my place in Maine on the NH border.
I remember back in '75 or so a man in town bought a GoldWing and we'd see him around town on it. I've wanted to have one since then, and now's the time!
It's added to the stable, and I intend to have some fun with it this summer!
My other bikes are:
2016 Harley Electra Glide Ultra
2006 Honda Shadow VLX 600 (my girl's bike)
2007 Piaggio Fly 50 4T. (for when we camp)
1979 Batavus Regency Moped. (stupid fun to drive)
Muzikteechur is Lonnie in Berwick, Maine

Welcome and very nice start to the naked Wingdom. I bought my first one about 6 months ago and now have 3. It’s easy to get hooked.

Re: Finally Bought a GoldWing!
Welcome, fellow Mainah!
I'm probably 20 miles from you, up in Kennebunk.
Caution: Watch out for the signs of addiction. Like MikeNTexas, I'm new to Wingdom. Before I knew it, I found myself with three GL1100s.
Watch for those early symptoms, which I'm now recognizing in myself: Checking CL and Fb for possible bikes; choosing to ride the Wing when the situation might call for a different bike; and, of course, having more than one Wing (or is it more than two? more than three? I think I'm bargaining.)
Seriously, I hardly know anything about Wings; this site is a phenomenal resource, with actual people genuinely interested in helping you address whatever issue you might confront with your bike.
And don't believe some of what you might read online about the GoldWings. I had read that they're "much harder" to work on than a typical motorcycle, that the older ones are tough for parts sourcing, and more. Phooey! They're not that tough to wrench once they're naked. With some important caveats, parts are quite widely available at somewhat reasonable prices. And where one needs to fab something, the community is so wide and deep that someone (or more than that) has already done it, put together a tutorial with pictures, and is happy to exchange info to help if needed.
Your GL1000 looks gorgeous, and the fork-mounted leather tool pouch is a nice touch.
Hope to see your bike on the road up around my neck of the Maine woods.
