New Here with a 82

#1

Post by Arcwar88 »

I just picked up a 1982 GL 1100 Interstate. It has been sitting for years and some of that time was outside.I have stripped off the fairing and all the compartment boxes, seat and most of the chrome bars. So I will be searching around here for answers and ideas when ever that may arise. Oh I did have it running on her own for about 10 minutes the 2nd day I had it. Right now it is in tear down mode. I know I want a cafe racer style look. This will be a project but I have time. Keeps me out of trouble I think ...... lol. So will be nice to talk shop..

No more engine running. Change both timing belts. Old timing belts break. Internal engine parts aren't happy when a belt fails.

commonly utilized timing belt part numbers (requires a qty. of 2 )

Gates #T274
NAPA #250274
Goodyear Gatorback #40274 (AutoZone & others)

Thanks for the welcome.. Live in the burbs of Chicago.. Soon as I can post my build thread I will show what progress has been made. Working on the radiator removal and then on to the timing belt replacement. I have found all the answer to questions I had by searching this site.. Such a awesome site and community!!
