GL1200 ISO Boost

#1

Post by M1Goldwing »

Thank you for admission into this club. I had begun to believe what I would tell myself, that I was in an island, no one was doing anything meaningful with a Goldwing outside of stock form. Some guys are chopping, and stripping but nowhere could I find anyone looking to push the boundaries of the GL platform in any concentrated place.

But here you all are, I have been rescued and I cannot wait to contribute.

1985 Honda Goldwing GL1200 Interstate
Paid:$500
Running but fuel pump had seized up and clutch master cylinder was leaking
Project Goals: Drag race the GL engine in any way this project takes me

At this point in the project I am learning the bike as I disassemble and test components against the service manual. I am working on making an engine only harness from the stock harness to use as a mule harness on the engine to reference back to as I begin building my custom harness.
Engine ignition and fuel injection Managment courtesy of Speeduino (at my cost of course). I have completed the hardware build and am ready to begin selecting sensors and triggers. Plan is to use all Honda Civic (circa 2005) parts to accomplish this including COP, throttle body, cam and crank triggers etc
In my head, this bike has some drag racing inspired small fairings on it, with a digital cluster, twin turbos sitting just above and behind the cylinder heads, exhaust exiting under an upswept seat much like a GSXR1000 and there is even some thoughts of running a custom rear fender/bags for street use; maybe removable for track use; this will be the same for the rear suspension design of which is still undecided.
I appreciate the support, special shout out to socrace who seems to have a very similar build going and does an exceptional job at documenting progress

If it hasn’t broken yet, there is more HP left in the tank.
