Hello from Spokane, Wa

Howdy. I've been lurking your site for about a year now, and got inspired to do my own build. I managed to find not one, but two gl1200's for around $750, along with as many parts as a new owner could ask for. I'm going to try to post a picture or 5 of the build so far, all helpful hints, comments, criticisms even, are welcome. I've been riding for a while, but I don't know a thing about most other things. Thanks guys!

I just watched a video on the timing belts. (the bikes came with a new replacement for each) I was going to hold off due to inexperience, but I think I can do that pretty easily.
I've already Rebuilt all 3 calipers, new brake pads, and new wheel bearings and seals on both wheels. Also, the front forks are new, progressive springs and new seals included. (all of which were included in the purchase.) the pictured bike is also only at 60k miles.
As it stands, my rear springs arrive today, and I'm trying to get ahold of a gentleman selling a gl1200 standard shelter. If that fails, a local blacksmith is going to make me some panels.
Thanks for the welcome, guys. I'm excited to share the project with people who aren't held hostage by marriage bonds.

My wife loves to ride. She even bought me the bikes as an anniversary gift, even. She can only listen to me prattle on about the build process for so long before her eyes glaze over, though.

Got the new springs on. Made an oopsie. Gotta figure out what to do about those while in a stalemate with other parts/seat.

My first wife liked to go on the back, my second didn't, my third went on the back of my CB 1300 once, my last partner (Jo) liked the 1300, my current partner Karen loves the GL, not so much the 1300. She is perfect, and not just because of the bikes!

Cut off the threads, drilled a small pilot hole, pulled out the bigger one, tapped the hole at 10mm 1.5, put a bolt in with some locktite, cut off the head, threw a nut on. Good as new. (don't tell anybody my center hole is 2mm off center... Lol)

Just received my new standard tank from AuthenticUJM, and I may have to rethink my paint scheme. This thing is beautiful. I'm getting anxiety at the thought of sanding it down.
