Back for a second run

#1

Post by Tin Man »

Used to be a member here about 5 years ago when I owned an 81 GL1100, but I can't figure all my login info out. No worries, I can start another one. I just picked up a 1976 GL1000 from a guy who bought it from the original owner with 2000 miles on it. Now it has almost 50k. It currently has a Windjammer III and a no name trunk on it. Not sure what I am going to do in the long run, but right now I am just going over it and making it solid and safe. The P.O. changed the belts and rebuilt the carbs last year (has papers to prove it). He didn't do anything beyond a bench sync on it, so I just got them synced last week. Next up is a new master cylinder (had the 5/8" one Randakk recommends on my last bike and want to do it again), new throttle cables (current ones are a little sticky and I'd rather start new) and new steering head bearings (current ones have a nice notch in the middle which makes riding interesting).

Dang, nice to know there is someone close on here. I head out there from time to time, mainly to get parts for my Sportster.
