Newbie

Post by bhaycock »

Hi all - new member just signed up.
Working on a 1982 GL1100i - leaving it as a bagger. Doing all the usual maintenance/safety stuff, starting with carbs (of course) and belts etc. This is my second wing, I had a '78 GL1000 about 20 years ago. Sold it and regretted shortly afterwards.

Thanks

Bud

Thanks all for the nice welcome> Got the 1100 back together and it runs great. I needed to pull the carbs and rebuild them. You couldn't have driven a nail through the pilot jets - wow were they ever plugged. When I got it all back together, on first start up it rev'd to about 6000. I immediately shut it down and began to think "what did I screw up?".. I remembered that the previous owner told me it just wouldn't idle at all, and I wondered if he had compensated by cranking in the idle stop screw. Sure enough, I had to turn it out about 4 turns to get the idle down to 1000. Anyways, it's had a refresh of everything and is back on the road. Man I sure missed that smooth ride for the last 20 years. Falling in love again.

Cheers

Bud
