Welcome to the forum and I second the hardest bike to bob comment from desertrefugee. Before you tear into that bike too far consider making it similar to a Honda F6B. I've always thought that is what I would do with a 1200 dresser. You would certainly get more functionality from it because of the retained bags but the mods to the bike wouldn't be nearly so drastic, save you a fair amount of expense as well. Whatever way you go good luck and most of all stay persistent and keep us posted.

Hey back, and thanks for the welcome Sugs,5speed, ritalz, Lcstrachan, Rat,Sagebrush

I will change my belts and ask lots of questions : ) That F6B is awesome. I still need to disassemble the bike as it looks like it is hiding some issues, air compressor, front forks, master cylinder/ brakes...cb and radio are toast. Good thing is, it runs, and for a grand I will not be picky.
