New here with 2 new to me GL1000's in Colorado

Post by agosey »

Howdy from the High Country (pun intend... wait what was I saying)...

Just wanted to say hi to all, thanks to all for the info I've already gotten, and thanks for what will come.
So far this place has been invaluable as I perform the new to me old bike swan dive...

I'm Adam and about a month and a half ago I came across 2 GL1000s, a red 76 w/24k ish on the clock and an black 77 with 7k ish. Blackie runs poorly, Red not yet. The PO at the time hadn't stored them well and didn't really get into them as project bikes and give them what they needed. So here we are 6 weeks later, the tanks have been pulled and cleaned of all nasty old anything on the insides. Carbs are going for a trip shortly to TN. New water pump for the 76 is ready to go in. All filters are brand new. Proper new fluids are awaiting their appropriate time as are new tires all around. Valve adjustments are pending and of course there are 4 new timing belts waiting patiently....
