Oh, hey

So, I thought I had posted the into.

Anyway, picked up an 81 GL1100 not running and without a starter. Well, it has a starter, but it's scrap due to a previous repair attempt that broke the field windings.

My regular ride is an 86 Yama VMAX, hence the handle. I'm also on the GT Hawk forum under the same name.

Mostly here to learn about this older machinery from simpler times. (How cliche is that?)

welcome to the site. I have an 82 1100, love it. Huge fan of the first gen V-Max's too although I've never owned one. Watched a buddy race one in the 1/4 quite a few times though.
Make sure you change the timing belts during the restoration.

Welcome to the club from the UK. I have a 1980 1100 which has (mostly) been fun to work on. Before you start her up, change the belts!

Welcome from Wisconsin. I'm kind of partial to the 1100's, myself. I got a pretty good deal on my current ride because the p.o. twisted off the post trying to get the starter cable loose. He (fortunately for me) read in the Clymers manual that the engine had to be removed from the frame to replace the starter. I didn't want to take advantage of the guy, so I told him I would fix it for him, but he had already lost interest in keeping the bike...
Anyway, enjoy the ride!

Welcome from Arizona! Always happy to engage another VMaxer. Unfortunately, I sold my 3rd Max after the Valkyrie came home to roost three years ago. I'll probably have another before I exit stage left. Nothing like it. Nothing.

Here it was with my buddy's new "48". He was sure it would run with the VMax. Just another lesson to be taught. There were so many.
