Welcome from another Australian

#1

Post by Another Aussie »

Hi All,

Recently sold out of a GPZ900 (after 27 years) and am looking for something that I can take my daughter on more safely.

Saw a 83 GL1100D which I was too slow to get to look at and now am quite obsessed with trying to find one just like it. I've not seen many naked 83's online in Australia and it looks like I might have to pull down one with a full fairing and re-do the front end with some different bars. But otherwise be able to reinstate it to stock again.

So nice to meet you all and if this quarantine ends I might be able to get my hands on one as atm there only seem to be ones two states and 52 days of quarantine away lolol .

Cheers, Andy.

Hi fellas,

Thanks for the warm welcome. There is an 85 1200 US import close by at a reasonable price though it has not been run for a "few years" to quote the listing. It does look nice, but I kind of like the false tank shape on the GL1100 and only have a carport behind a gate so it is one machine for me.

The GL1100s seem thin on the ground here. I really want the 83 because I like the alloy wheel set rather than the Comstars. Personal preference I know. I want to do something mild, yet keeping the panniers, but losing the top box I think, and I kind of like the black ones.

Anyway, this is a great site so congratulations to the moderators and originators and the participants. Hopefully I can become a contributor in the not too distant future.

Cheers, Andy,
