New, and Here to Learn

#1

Post by Bubbamonk »

Hello everyone! New to the group and am very excited. I am about to be the proud owner of an ‘81 GL 1100 with less than 30k miles. The bike was given to a buddy of mine and he decided he doesn’t have the time or desire to get road worthy. I currently ride an 97 Pacific Coast and am excited to step up to a bigger bike and put some miles on it! The bike has sat for some time and will need some loving, which is how I came to find this site. Thank you for the add, and I look forward to learning and sharing as time goes by. Thanks!

Thanks everybody! I do have to admit I’m a little overwhelmed thinking of everything that needs be done to the bike that’s been sitting for a while. I will be pouring through the pages gathering as much information as I can. My buddy just sent some photos and I thought I’d include them here.

Welcome. Great looking bike. Get the manual, bit of maintenance all round, then ride and enjoy! The garage is interesting as well.

The bike looks like it's seen some love in the past. A Standard with added vetter fairing and bags, and lots of 'farkles,' lol!

Yea, the farkles are strong on this one for sure! I wish I could take credit on the garage, sadly that is my buddy’s. Mine leaves a lot to be desired albeit for the endless piles of toys and crap from the kids...step one is making room for this beauty!

That's what I was thinking, a garage with bar in it. What more could you ask for?
