First Goldwing second wing

Hello ngwclub :),

Just found this forum today and thought it would be a perfect fit for me 🙂. A little background on myself, my first bike I ever owned was an 83 GL650I that I picked up back in 2013. It was in pretty good shape body wise, but exposed me to my first experience with being unable to find old bike parts as it had a broken cam chain tensioner. After taking apart the engine 3 times to fix it the bike ran great for the next couple of years before someone crashed into it while it was parked overnight ☹️. After that I waited until 2019 before I picked up my current 87 Goldwing Interstate. When I picked up the bike it had been sitting for a few years under cover, but in the Washington state humidity. A fair amount of surface rust, but still ran and was the right price for a project 🙂. Fast forward 2 years and it now has no fairings, a gl1200 standard false tank that I found on ebay, and various maintenance tasks. I'm currently debating between shifting it to essentially a conversion to a gl1200 standard, or to go with a bobber styling. I will probably post pictures here soon, but am away from it at the moment 😊.

Looking forward to reading about everyone else's projects and sharing mine 🙂
David

Welcome to the 'Wingdom.

Anyone who can find a 1200 Standard shelter has my respect ... perhaps you should buy the odd lottery ticket with that sort of luck ...

When I saw it on ebay I jumped on it pretty quick, the experience with parts for my gl650 one year wonder taught the value of quick decisions on old parts 🤣
