Re: Leaf spring rear-end!!!
Nice smiley Sunnbob.....the back bone is gonna be through welded to the rear loop. The backbone is going to be ....ummmmm....not made from the same steel that i use for everything else. Something alot stronger, my metallurgy friend is gonna figure that part out. I am going to try to avoid using any other bracing in order to keep the lines clean and clear. Also, in my crazy mind a single long backbone will help pull off a more aircraft type look. Not to mention make a really cool spot to hang the bomb tank from!

Re: Leaf spring rear-end!!!
Problem solved! I put a brace in that still allowed the open look of the rear frame section. Also tacked on the fins of the bomb to get a better idea of how everything was gonna fit. Quite nicely i think. I decided against a backbone in order to keep the bomb nice and open for view. So the rear tubes sticking up are gonna be used to mount the seat.
Also, i have been struggling to figure out how to incorporate a way to add enough seat for my better half. This arrangement should allow for me to design two different seat systems....one solo and one double just by removing the stand bolts in the tube ends. There problem solved...right? Gotta keep em happy in order to stay sane!!!!!!

Re: Leaf spring rear-end!!!
Just a little update: the "bomb" tank is at the REAL welder shop to be fitted with the end plate to accept the fan. Then sealed and sent to the radiator shop to have the custom radiator built and mounted!!!
The spring shop screwed up the right side spring when rolling the bushing in. So they are in the process of cutting and rolling a new spring. For free by the way....good guys...(Florida Spring and Axle in Fort Myers Florida) by the way. I am gonna cut the front spike off of the mounting plate to clean up some lines.
Oh Oh Oh my buddy found a 70's girder front end that is 12" over stock. OK so 12"s is way way too long!!!! But i have a angle grinder with a cutting wheel and a good buddy who can put down one hell of a weld. So that being said, it is only gonna cost me 75 bucks. It came off of a Triumph so the metric neck measurements should be an easy fit....hopefully?!?
Got the new frame members welded in and nice and smoothed in. Mostly to cover my ugly welds....but that we will keep as a ngw secret right?
So here is where she is at for now....by the way....thanks for the encouragement guys!!! It helps!
PS i decided to turn the carbs back around and am gonna run each banks intake out of the front of the fairing through the slots and dress up the ends like 2 big ass gun barrels with heat shields around them to finalize the effect. What do yall think?
Who cares....i am gonna do it anyway!!!!!

Hate to tell you, but no way were 70s Triumphs metric! Good ol' Imperial English!

Re: Leaf spring rear-end!!!
I thought they had a metric neck....my buddy put a Honda dirt bike front end on his Triumph last year and it was a direct bolt on. I just assumed that the opposite would work. Right? Or did i just make an ass out u and me?
