Hello all. I am new to this forum. I joined so that i could share the engineering journey i have just begun. I have an 85 ltd 1200 that i am currently stretching and modding to fit a 93 gl1500 engine. I seem to get a lot of sour comments on other forums. I guess the purists dont agree with my vision. Anyway, i will attempt to get some pics of the progress so far. I have stretched the engine bay 4 inches and dropped bottom rails just over 2 inches. The motor i ordered will arrive next week and i can start fabricating the engine mounts.

Does this qualify as "off the wall"? I was going to do a thread on the latest version of Quasi-moto...but i didn't take many pics ...still might tell the tale (one of sorrow and woe but ultimately success!) if i find the time.

Anyway...a couple+ years ago i had made a home built seat/tailpiece that looked good.....but my rearend don't have eyes, and after about 35 miles it would convince me that lookin' cool was just not worth the price of admission..(if you want to do more than just bar hoppin')....so i got thinking about what was my fave seat from past bikes ...that was a no-brainer for me, a solo 30's Harley police seat. I had a 60 panhead with one on , and it was excellent. ( Its actually shaped to fit a butt!)

Since i seem to like a challenge, putting a seat meant for a back-bone style frame on a cage frame bike looked like "fun"....i hope it is sufficiently "off the wall" enough...

....i still have a few tweaks to do..lighter springs and front/back seat angle, but its waaaay better than the last two seats. .....did over 120 miles the other day .....with no complaints from my rearend!

Look around and you'll see that really isn't that far off the wall. ;) Do a build thread. Restorations and projects would be a good place.

"diy engine guards?"
yes...kind of...there made from a set of 80-83 shinbusters...with a diy strut to the bottom motor mount...they're a lot more rigid that they look at first glance.

"Looks cool, any pics of the front of that fairing?"
sorry...nothing in this computer. Keep an eye open i may make a short thread on Quasi-moto's recent redo...in the resto section. thanks
