The time has come to heed fred campers advice.
As things stand the color poll has exceeded 100 votes and is a dead heat between the top two choices.
I am going to reset the pole with the top three vote getters and ask that y'all vote one more time.
These three will run right up till paint time and the winner will be applied to the bike.
Thanks again for the past and future input.
Below Is the old poll.
I copied it to keep a rcord.

Thanks to wingrider I now have this pan to build a seat from.
Its an old corbin gentry seat for a 1000.
I think it wont take much to get it to fit my 1200.

After work today i pulled the bike out of the row of shame. the "new"seat pan has me excited about the bike again. I will have to make a few alterations, mostly to the mounting points, but i like it better than any of my other options. i like the pan i built but i decided it would be better to have a passenger seat.
the harley seat is nice but this way requires fewer modifications to get the look i want and the stock seat is too bulky for what i want on this bike.
Heres a pic of the pan before any modifications. I really like the lines.

Agree, the shape looks good. What about those frame ears hanging off the back. If a fender is used then fine, but what if not?

Did a little more looking today. I sat on it and realized it was too far forward. So I pulled out a shelter side and gave it another look.

Moving it back some will require a little trimming and bracing. Still doable.
I intend to use the stock fender that I previously shortened. So I dont think the frame ends will be a problem.

On a related note, I've been following norberts build and I really like the seat he installed.
Im thinking his will have an influence on mine.
Here's his

Quite some time ago I pulled the bike out of the row of shame, test fit a couple of parts and talked about turning good thoughts into good actions.
That did not happen.

So ...
this is not a poor me post, its just an update and a way for me to stay interested in the project. Im using that term loosely right now.
The bike is back in the row of shame but im holding out hope.

Since my last post I had a hard time generating interest in the bike.

Lack of interest came in part from lack of money.
Working a part time job and and struggling to keep up with the bills sort of left me without motivation. I sold a few things and managed.
And I did manage to gather a few things that will aid with the project.

Now I am hoping that a recent development will affect my motivation in a positive way.
I GOT A FULL TIME JOB!!!
I know that I have to take care of the basics first but im seeing free time and project funding at the end of the tunnel.
My intentions are to keep the part time job for a while.
This will hopefully help me to get the finances back in shape and the new work schedule should free up some evenings for some quality shop time.
The only drawback I see is that I will be working 7 days for a while.
I think I can deal with it.

Anyway, im going to stop rambling now and go check out the cool stuff you guys are turning out.
Until the next time, keep your knees in the breeze.

I've been saying that for 2 years! lolol

Duke, so glad you have found a job that hopefully will enable you to finish the project, I was in a similar situation, no money, to carry on what has seemed like forever since I started, but things do change, and now I am almost there. Hang on in there, and keep us informed.

For what is worth, Raptor took 4 years to finish phase one. and I moved twice. And not across the street. Many states away. But I still have my eye on the prize. It MIGHT get finished this winter

Hey y'all
Thanks for the comments and the encouragement.
Y'all have built and are building some great examples of these bikes.
Maybe one day I will be able to park mine alongside some of yours.
Whether here on the sight or in person.

Not trying to duplicate other conversations but I would like this thread.to reflect the things that impact the project. That said, I still have the want to, to build this bike.
I just dont know when I will be able to actually make it happen.

Eight days ago the slo build got slower when I had a heart attack.
I am home and things are looking good.
I have a cardiologist appointment in a week. There's no way of knowing what he's going to say, but I have my hopes.
Back to work asap is a necessity but I know not to push things, even though I want to.
But if he sticks to six to nine weeks off, I hope he allows for some activity.
Then maybe I can occupy some of my time with this project.
Time will tell.
