Re: GL 1000 cafe fighter
Your frame looks fantastic - good lines to it, the motor looks really nice in the there.
I particularly like the little peak at the top of the rear hoop, nice touch

Re: GL 1000 cafe fighter
yesterday I spend hours searching for the right air filter that is big enough en fits in between the carbs and the gastank
this one should just fit in...f
I will have to make a top shielding myself cause the Original K&N one makes it much to heigh. But that will work out just fine.
but to make sure I made a paper dummy and i think it will really fit... or I will modify the bottom of the gastank to make it fit. Cause now I have about the same amount of aircleaner surface as before with this set of carbs on the sidecar.
this afternoon also picked up a nice set of disc brakes that suit the wheels better (and the one I used to make them fit I had only one piece of laying around)

Re: GL 1000 cafe fighter
That air filter will look good, especially with an EHE cover
Do the bolt holes on the discs line up with the hub, or will you need to modify ?

Re: GL 1000 cafe fighter
The bolts line up, the inner diameter of the disc is a little bit bigger then original GL and also the offset, but if you scroll back a few pages you can see i already made adapters for that.
Dimensional this is the same disc as the one with the round holes, just different layout

Re: GL 1000 cafe fighter
I think some paint stripper would add a nice touch to the tank

Re: GL 1000 cafe fighter
I've been working on the electrical things.
first start to build the small battery I've been talking about for already a few years
couldn't find any proper bridge connections so I made my own from 5x1,5 mm cupper strips lots of soldering, but it seems to work

Re: GL 1000 cafe fighter
then try to figure out the best position of the few electrical part I'm going to need to get this baby running.
want to put it all in the seat compartment and as far as I can predict, I think its going to become a very compact cable routing.
the regulator will be mounted on the outside of the seat compartment. nice big cooling surface and in the fresh open air.
Need to find a key switch which also has a start functinon in it (like in a car) and then mount this part also very close to the seat compartment.

Re: GL 1000 cafe fighter
Looks great EHE, looking forward to how it works out. This has been a long time coming.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

Re: GL 1000 cafe fighter
thanks Andy, always handy to know where to find them afterwards
(I'll keep it in mind for the next time. could safe a lot of time, allthough the home made ones work perfect as well )
in the meantime she got on her own feet and because of the whole supsension setup was a wild guess... I was happy to notice it feels very wel in balance with the engine in the frame been puzzling a lot with different headlights and different positions, but this is how I ended.

To me that headlight doesn't go with the rest of the style.
