Corbin Gunfighter Seat

#1

Post by budinindy »

I'm thinking about buying a Corbin Gunfighter seat for my '79. I'm a bit short on the inseam and on my current stock seat my heels are about an 1/2 inch off the ground. Will using the Corbin seat gain me any inches so I'm flat footed?

Also...if someone has a solid black Gunfighter they are looking to get rid of...let me know.

Thanks for your insights. Have a good one.

Dont know if the seat will help with that or not. I saw some posts about putting on 11" eye to eye rear shocks. that will get the bike low enough to put your feet flat on the ground and a little more.

Hi Bud, I shall make my own Gunfighter to my GL1200 Std.

Look at Kris "how to".

I would like to put on shorter shocks...but I'm not sure that I can customize a pair myself and I have not found any shorter ones with the clevis end that is used on the older Wings. If there is a trick or something I can do or a shock out there...I would appreciate any insights.

As far as making my own Gunfighter seat...wow...that looked really interesting. If the foam flexible enought to be remotely comfortable?

Thanks and have a great day.

I don't know Bud, I'll think I shall use foam rubber for my seat.

As far as a clevise for you shocks budinindy , just make yourself a tiny set of shackles an bolt one end to the clevis side of the stock older wing and of course the other to the bottom eye bolt of the shocks .I just put on a set of 11 " eye to eye shocks on mine but you have the clevis end where I just explained you could do . there are two other way to also drop you GL is in this site without buying shorter shocks .

Z,

I've been reading what you and Vic have been doing for a while and have been impressed with the stuff you have come up with. The way you've customized your bike is very cool. I'm really intrigued by the EFI for the older Goldwing...though I don't understand enough about it to even talk about it.

The pix you posted showing raising the shock up in order to lower it...how does that affect the stock (or a gunfighter) seat? It looks like it would rub.

Just a little background on me...I'm a tinkerer...I cna usually take it apart and put it back together...but I'm not a fabricator...I can't weld and such. So I look for thinks that are pretty bolt on or simple to modify.

Thanks for taking the time to give me your thoughts. I appreciate it.

Have a good one.

Well B , this system would look like it may interfeer with the gunfighter type seat . But how much lower do yuo need to go ? the stock GL seat height is 31 " and a bit and I myself have only 28 " and even less because of the width of the frame . So I've fabricated a lower frame and just put on 11 " eye to eye shocks , my next step will be to NARROW the frame , but the thing I can sudjest to you is to have a lower seat made and lower shocks of you can go that way . But let us know what , and where you're at and we'll chip in to make sure you end up with what you need .
