77 gl1000 seat question

I am looking to try my first seat "custumization" lolol .....Approximatley how difficult is it to cut and trim to get that Harley soft tail look?
1982 GL1100

Go through the customizing section and look at some of the builds there. Many have reshaped/ redesigned their seats for custom look they wanted on their project.
