Eight Pounds and 40 Stone Build
Going to finally start this project.
I set it up on the worktable with centerlines and wheelbase lines.
When I put the new suspension components on I want to retain close to original wheelbase and height.
The name? 8 pounds of Boost and british measurement in "Stone" of GL weight. Hope to get the stones broken up some.
Will try to document this build.
Please advise if you notice me doing something unsafe and stupid and could hurt me!

Re: Eight Pounds and 40 Stone Build
Very creative. Looking forward to watching this. A very small suggestion: Now's the time to drill and tap the center stand frame for a zerk fitting.
A comment from Old Fogey from an old posting:
"Anyone reading this thread that wishes to keep centre stand in working order should do as I did. With the stand off the bike drill it at the rear (so that you can get at it when the bike is on the stand) and fit a small grease nipple. (Zerk fitting?) Then put a double blade in your hacksaw through the bore of the stand and put a shallow cut along the length of the stand in line with the drilling. Make sure that the mounting ears are a close fit to the sides of the stand before nipping up the pinch bolts. (I did think about using a felt washer each side to make it a little less messy). Future maintenance is just a couple of shots with the grease gun while moving the stand through its arc."
I also saw another post (couldn't find it) where a member showed how he ground some spiral grooves in the Pipe (#3) which further helps to distribute the grease.

8 pounds of boost? Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't it be closer to 6?

You are probably correct, I haven't got too far with the supercharger research, will keep it in mind. I guess I do recall something about 4-6 psi max.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Eight Pounds and 40 Stone Build
I found in the manual the ground clearance of 5.9 inches. I need the measurement from the lower frame tubes to the ground, which is not the lowest point of the motorcycle measurement. Probably at rest on the tires. I didn't measure that before dis-assembly. Would someone measure their motorcycle for me?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Heck, you could use 10 lbs of boost. Just not for very long.

Re: Eight Pounds and 40 Stone Build
Heard you can lower the compression ratio to survive more boost.

Re: Eight Pounds and 40 Stone Build
Ya I guess a single blower like others have done on this site. Seems like the layout of the motor is good for a blower feeding the cyclinder with a carb on top of it. Is there options for something else. Open to suggestions.

Other than the center stand, what frame mods do you have in mind?
If we can't fix it, we can fix it so no one else can.

Re: Eight Pounds and 40 Stone Build
I'm by no means a turbo or super charger expert. I do tinker with my Ford ranger (holset turbo/ thunderbird internals) which runs about 30 lbs of boost. It seems to me, with most forced induction set ups, 6 lbs is about the threshold when forged pistons, are needed... The Goldwing engine could be different, and I am just stating what seems to be the norm. I'm looking forward to seeing how your bike comes along!
