Thank you Casper.
I still haven't cleaned up my garage, but I am slowing making progress on the AstroWing.

I took a 1/2 drive 12 point socket and cut it with a cutoff wheel to fit the swing arm nut. Took the nut right off.

Re: GL 1100 Cut, weld, wrench then ride
I thought I had two new O2 sensor bungs. Guess I lost one. I had to cut one from an old car exhaust. Now I have both sensors hidden in the Honda headers under the clutch area. The computer needs to know the air/fuel ratio coming thru the exhaust (rich /lean) the computer can adjust the mixture to constantly try for an ideal air fuel ratio.
Was at a car show recently. It was easy to tell the carbureted cars while they were driving in. You could smell the unburned fuel from 20 feet away.
A lot of things about the old days are really cool, carburetors and fouled spark plugs are not among them. (My opinion)

Re: GL 1100 Cut, weld, wrench then ride
Thanks for the nudge Ericheath.. I'm still here. Sorry, I am the team manager of a racing team, my job takes all my time from January through October. I have gathered a few parts and ideas over the last several months. I expect to get back to work on the Gold Wing in a couple of weeks. I have some ideas I think you folks will enjoy. Please check back soon.

I was going by last Octobers posts. Figured you'd be back. Your bike has come too far and has too many good ideas to fall by the wayside.

Re: GL 1100 Cut, weld, wrench then ride
I finally had a few hours to work on the AstroWing today. I installed the new waterpump and finished the cooling system.

Re: GL 1100 Cut, weld, wrench then ride
I hope one day I can find a lower radiator hose that I can use and avoid the splice. This will have to do for now.

- I found an old piece of aluminum bar stock, drilled it out and machined some ridges to keep the hoses from slipping.

Here is another picture showing the water inlet I made so I could bring the coolant into the water pump from the side.

Nicely done. Looks like you'll have better access to the hoses than the stock set-up too

beautiful work AW!
I see these heat shrink hose clamps in OE applications & I wonder would they work with your cool red silicon hoses

Re: GL 1100 Cut, weld, wrench then ride
Fish, I was not aware of this. Thanks for the tip. I like the "shrink tube" idea to replace hose clamps. I will be careful to prove to myself that it is equal or better than the ugly worm clamps before I switch. I hope it works, sure looks better. I'll report back once I figure out a test procedure, or hear of some one else that gave it a proper test.
