My project GL1100 Bobber Hardtail
Here is my first post. Hope to stay updated on my progress. My plan is to strip it down to bare frame and convert it to a bobber style hardtail bike. I will be chopping the rear frame section off and converting it to a hardtail bobber. Here is my progress so far.

Welcome from the UK. Any questions ask away and someone will soon help you. Interesting start and be good to see what the engine looks like under all that dirt. Let me be the first to say the most important thing to do is to change the timing belts!

Re: My project GL1100 Bobber Hardtail
Topwingnut, yeah saw that bike and it is my inspiration for this build. He did an awesome job at a softtail but I want to sta truer to a classic bobbr and plus I'm on a tight budget. Will be fabbing all my own parts out of what I have. It's what I do. Love turning junk into functional stuff.

Re: My project GL1100 Bobber Hardtail
Well got the rear frame section cut out and ready to move on. Still debating if I want to go the hardtail classic look and springer seat, or go to a custom airbag suspension. Ideas, thoughts? Anybody out there have a rigid goldwing?

- Here is my idea of what the airbag suspension would be like. First fab a plate on the front frame to attach the airbag to, then fab a rear triangle brace that mounts to the swingarm and allows for a mounting/pivot point for the airbag.

Re: My project GL1100 Bobber Hardtail
Well I have been reading through a ton of previous post and yeah my goal is to be as half as cool as Hott's Ol' Sparky and Topwingnut's build. I like how they both did a classic soft tail using pull type shocks. Like I've said earlier, I'm broke (3 kids and a mortgage will do that to you ) and want to try and fab as much parts as I can. I have a set of airbags from an S10 I had previously that I'm curious to use. Will let you know what happens. Biggest thing is I want to bike to be clean and free of clutter. Not going for crazy all out, but subtle detail and just cool!

Re: My project GL1100 Bobber Hardtail
I went monoshock. You need a different tank. Rides great. I was going to do the softail like HOTT but got a wild hair and went mono. I guess partly because I wasn't comfortable with my welding of the frame at the spot ge widened. Maybe the next one. A hardtail could be tough where I ride.
