you're going to end up tearing it completely apart..
might as well accept that like I did. lol
Hahaaa, I won't argue that.
It needs to have the engine pulled so I can clean and paint the frame and motor, but not until next winter.
Took it riding yesterday, BEAUTIFUL weather, mid 70's, not a cloud in sight, Tom Petty cranking on the stereo, wind blowing through my hair, um, well, the hair on my chin that is......

Felt SO GOOD riding again.
I still need to finish my water pump install on the 82..then I will be all set. My plan is to tear the 76 down over the summer and paint, polish, power coat then reassemble it. I would love to have it done this summer but realistically..I won't.
I can relate to the wind through the chin hair..and eye brows. lol

On post 239, you mentioned smelling anti-freeze. There are some O-rings behind the transmission plate that have to be just so. It may be just a bit of water getting in to the oil. No question that mine had that issue, along with the water pump and also oil was coming out of the weep hole. I found the o-ring issue while servicing the water pump.
Randakk has some good pictures of the transmission O-rings and what to look for. I like this build after just skimming it and now plan to read it all

It is ironic that you mention this now. Last night I lay on my shop floor and looked under the engine with a flashlight. There is antifreeze coming out of the weep hole. Not even enough to drip, just enough that I can see the green of the liquid. I park it in there on that concrete floor every night, I don't think it has dripped once.

But you're right.
Thank you for your interest in my build thread.
Replacing the o-rings, seals and gasket isn't to bad of a job..if you've had the cover off before or have replaced those awful screws..

I messed up. I was helping a young kid last Saturday. He's a child of some friends of mine, just got out of boot camp. He asked for help with his Jeep, just needed new u-joints on the rear drive shaft. We rebuilt it, then somehow I twisted wrong and bulged a disc in my lower back.
I am currently flat on my back for a few days during this good weather.
Extremely frustrated right now....

ugh.. I feel your pain..literally. I've put my back out quite a few times..doing stupid things like picking up a sneaker, putting food in the dogs dish, my best was bending my head down to walk under an umbrella on a beach in Barbados.
Put me off work for a month once..
I highly suggest a chiropractor and massage. I've been going for over a year and although I've tweaked my back a few times since..it doesn't put me out of commission like before.

I have some radiator wings that I could sell you if you are still looking for some.
Also could you post a couple pictures of your dust collection. I have the same type cabinet and would like to evacuate the dust when I use it to blast.
I second the suggestion of seeing a chiropractor or physical therapist.
Thanks
Eric

I saw a chiropractor yesterday morning and this morning. Definitely better now, but still sore.
The good thing is, it now feels better the more I walk around, which is what the doc wants me doing.
