I finally found one! 78 gl1000 comes home tomorrow. Dressing comes off then I gotta get it running! Then bring on the mods!! I like the El guapo bike and leaning that way for now, my son wants to build a "rat" rod of sorts, that's close enough for him.

Actually my buddy has wanted one for a while, I thought I may surpise him with one, this one may stay at home though! My sons 11, not quite big enough yet! He's my mechanic/fabricator in training, he wants to build it like the "el gaupo" bike.

Not having any luck finding a cheap zx550 tank though. Ive got some copper sheating im hoping to incorporate somehow, maybe I'll build my own tank?? More pics as I progress.

Fast forward lol!! Ended up cleaning her up, giving her to buddy. Got her back...tore down, started painting.

Got a tank coming, then I can mod the frame. Randakks rebuild kit on the bench. Need to make/buy? An air filter, paint the frame, wheels, fork. Make a seat and relocate electronics. Should be fun! Prob for getting something but will keep posting progress and mistakes lol. I know you all love pics so I'll try to keep them coming. Just noticed pics are backwards....

Holy smokes, something tells me this is a serious executive summary! I'm guessing there's a lot that went on here "behind the scenes".

Lol...he didn't ride like he thought, gummed up the carbs, blew air in the carbs and it went south quickly. I'm rebuilding a motor for him so he gave it back. Sooo.....back to the original plan and cut it up!
