Thanks Easter. This is a rattle can job...very pleased so far. I've got a couple spots to touch up, but it's just stuff I missed or didn't adequately coat last night.

This stuff is supposed to be hard as nails once it cures.

Looks good, (I would have paid $280 for that bike.)

Looking forward to watching your build.

I really like that shade of blue you are doing, it kind of reminds me of a Buick color from the 70's called Electric Metallic Blue, which was the color of my first car.
1975 GL1000 - Delkevic exhaust with stainless studs, Corbin Touring seat, Race Tech Gold Valve cartridge emulators, Progressive 11-1100 springs, Progressive 412HD rear shocks, Shinko 230 tires, Fork Brace, Trucklite 27270c headlight, X-Arc Signals (run, brake, turn), Hydraulic Clutch conversion, EBC Clutch discs, HD springs, and Barnett Steels + Plate B eliminated. BikeMaster DLFP-50N18L Lithium battery, Rick's Motorsports CBR600F4 Mosfet Regulator/Rectifier upgrade.

:8)

That's exactly what it is, or, more accurately, it's a rattle can called "GM Light Metallic Blue"

I love that car. My father did have one. it was the former rally car and in that time very fast. When i was litte boy my father tell me story about his trip in Germany and other middle european countries ( in 1960s) Saab was quite an unknown and rear car in mid europe in that time and of course BMW owners want to compete whit his car. Father told me taht, first BMW drivers did past Saab qute easy but after long downhill Saab did encrease its speed so much and could hold it too and later he did past eweryone :-D Small 2T engine did whines and run like crazy but did hold all parts together. After some 100 km he did stop in a gas station and some those cars he past did take stop too. Drivers stepped out and came to look my fathers od looking car and started to ask him questions about the car. He was so proud and i was too and i still am :-D

My Darkwing 2 seat came in yesterday, and I have to say, I'm extremely disappointed in the quality and fit.

Image

For $235, I expected a bolt-on affair, not something that needs drilling, trimming, and reinforcement. The gelcoat has chips and pinholes, the seat is already worn on the front edge from shipping, the panel where the license plate mounts is crooked and warped, and there's no way to attach the pad to the pan.

At minimum, I'll have to build a brace underneath the seat. I'm a big guy at about 280, and this 1/8" thick fiberglass is NOT going to support me, especially with just four holes in the lower edge in an area that't going to flex and move going into turns. I had just expected there to be something a little more substantial than a little bit of fiberglass and half-baked mounting instructions.\

Sure does look nice though.

I wonder if they also do a long version. I love the look of that seat but I'm not a "always-solo rider".

Yeah. It crossed my mind, but I haven't found a seat I like more, and I don't have the patience to build one myself. I have to paint it anyway and the chips and pinholes can be filled in with a quick dab of glazing putty. Building a brace is a bit of a bummer though. I just expected some sort of heavier-duty framework under the seat.

I just did a 79 and bought the same seat, same quality same manufacturer. All I did was reinforced the 4 holes you have to drill with spacers, nothing underneath. I weigh 240 and mine is holding up so far

Good to know. The instructions are difficult to read... Looks like the upper shock eye is behind the side of the seat in your photo. Is that correct?
