Today went well. I finished installing the M-Unit and new wiring harness. Well, other than some ugly loom work I need to re-wrap.

After getting the Danmoto cockpit wires to all the right places, and double checking everything, I grabbed the remote and hit the on button. Lights! Camera! Action!.. well almost. After switching the bike on, I hit the starter and the starter roared to life. But. The bike did not start. I pulled a plug, and rats! No spark.

Not to be deterred, I checked every ground, and every circuit. Everything checked out. I tested the coils, and the Spark unit. Still no spark.

I went inside, sat down at the computer and started a google search. Several folks were talking about getting the power to their CDI right. Well, that is on Yamaha's and Harley's. That got me thinking, Ya, what is powering the CDI on my wing? I took a look at some handmade wiring drawings when I stumbled across one for a CX500. And there, right before my eyes, was my answer. there is supposed to be a B/W wire going from the aux power to the CDI.

Following the b/w wire from the CDI's, I found they headed off to the coils. Almost. I saw where I had cut a wire (b/w) coming from the cdi's. It was supposed to splice into the other b/w wires heading to the coils. Eureka! I made quick work of splicing in a new wire going from the M-Unit auxiliary power feed to the b/w wires between the CDI's and coils.

Hit the start button.. and.. sweet sound of success.

So if you wire up a wing, be sure to connect that b/w wire to a switched power source!

So, now I can proceed to wrap the wiring up all pretty. Here are some pictures with explanations.

When splicing your cockpit turn signal indicator into the turn signal wiring, be sure to use one of these. 1N 4001 Diode. One for the left and one for the right.Be sure the little band is towards the indicator light side of the circuit.

I used one of these euro style junction boxes to join my wires together in the lighting circuit. This one, for the right turn signal, brings the rear, front, signal indicator and power together. It does the same for the left turn signal, and joins the low beam headlight, tail light and power together. Later in the pictures you can see I sealed the entire junction box with self adhering rubber tape.

While still waiting for install, I checked the Danmoto cockpit and the koso temp gauge for operation.

Here is the M-Unit fired up. In this picture you can see the ignition circuit (aux power) is lit up. To the right, hanging on the battery strap is the remote. The blue wire is the antenna for the remote. The system is waiting for me to fire up the bike before it switches the headlight on.

Here is a view of the ignition system after install. Still needs some cleanup, but what a different between this and stock. For those that are curious, I replaced the stock regulator with a MOSFET regulator. (highly recommended for Lithium batteries). Also in the picture you can see the High capacity ignitors, together with the Dyna coils. I am also running Iridium plugs. To see how smooth and crisp this thing runs, you have to be here to believe it.

Great job, lots of intricacies. The b/w wire you mention to the coils should be coming from the engine stop switch. Honda was pretty good at keeping wiring consistent from model to model. Like the high capacity igniters.

That is awesome, I'm glad you figured this all out before I tried to...saved us all a lot of time and hassle. Hats off to you!

You probably said this, but the remote is to power it up? It isn't cheap but it really looks neat.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

Ya, the b/w wire came from the kill switch as stated. I don't need the kill as the munit kills by hitting the starter button twice. The remote, which costs 15 bucks, replaces the key switch.

Looks great! You have any part numbers for those high capacity igniters and the mosfet regulator you used?

I use the b/w wire going to the coils as trigger wires for relays I have installed. I have a switched wire from an accessory fuse block that I installed early on - gives as close to battery voltage as is possible/practical to the coils.

mmm, you said lithium battery. LOVE those little buggers.

good on ya, man! a daunting task well executed. wish I coulda been there when she fired!

and now I'm envious.

mostly I like the programmable aspect of blinker duration time, strobing brake light, and built-in movement security system, etc. gonna have to get me a setup like this.
