Re: DEATHBYPIZZA's 1980 GL1100 Project.
came into a snag tonight while trying to take the left frame off for engine removal, all bolts came off except the one that is the bottom engine mount on the left near the starter.
the right side popped right out with a little push, this nothing. hiotting with a hammer even wont knock it loose.
the head of the hex bolt is slightly worn so getting my 17mm on it to stick is a little bit of an issue.
advice?

Just a WAG, is that jack stand maybe putting pressure on the motor/frame to cause it to bind? A lot of things work better when you wiggle them around a while. You'll know when you get older.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

1985 GL650 Silverwing another mistake, horrible bike
1986 CBX550 Good commuter
1989 Suzuki GS750 (1976) cheap and cheerful until a dog ran out in front of me on Xmas Eve, 1991

I knew that would start a conversation------- from all the old duffers. We're talking bolts.

I got the side frame to come off a little with no luck of moving the engine.
Meanwhile my resistor caps showed up along with my 10ft wire from lowbrow customs. So I made my plug wires!

I like those wires. Wish I had done something similar on my bike.

Thanks! They have nice colours at low brow. They sell 10ft for like 20$?propav8r wrote:I like those wires. Wish I had done something similar on my bike.
Got the caps on eBay for 10-15?
And I'm reusing the twist on tips from my old wires.

Yeah, I'll probably order some up. My Dyna coils use regular automotive boots and ends at the coil, and I'm also still using the screw-on resistor caps.deathbypizza wrote:Thanks! So I gave up removing the engine and I've since painted it and such in the frame ha
Anywho here's a little update. Put the wheels on and ran the brake lines etc.
