Re: Lucky #13 by HOTT
yeah... sorry about that I could give you all the excuses, but nobody likes a whiner.
I AM getting many Goldwing-ish things done. Wrapping up a carb set-up for
Zach75GL1000 see photo I'll have more on that later under Unique Carbs.
Anyhow, just about through my tandem bicycle events. Be back at Lucky this time next week.
thanks

Re: Lucky #13 by HOTT
Took some time to lace up the rear wheel.
16x3.00 chrome deep center.
I scored the 1000 hub on the Bay.
It was part of a nasty wheel that I got for
$30.00. Some glass beading cleaned the stained grunge
and brought back the cast silver look. On to the front...

Is the process any different really than doing it on a Bicycle? I was pretty dang good at that a few decades ago but I have never tackled a big rim.

You should try one.WF, I was pretty dang good at that a few decades ago but I have never tackled a big rim.
I find the motorcycle wheels easier and more forgiving. It may have something
to do with the fact that MC stuff isn't so teensy weensy & exotic.
I would recommend to anyone...Take apart an old wheel and try it. It's
just like jumping into a carb repair, hey but no O-rings to loose!

Everybody Spring Along
Well first, thanks for your patience on this build. It seems the early months of 2013
had other plans for me than Lucky. All's good. Now Let's get after it!
The plan is to give Lucky a springer front end.
"Oo! Lucky's gone be a chopper with a long springy fork."
Well no, but thanks for playing. Actually I'm going 2" Under, ala pre1949 style fork.
....but let's get the basics. Installing a Harley ready springer is relatively easy compared to GSXR install.
I started by removing lower steering stops. the fixed fork section is there on the floor The steer shaft supplied is a 1''dia. (Honda is 1 1/6''to1 3/16''). Bearing fitment can be achieved
turning some simple tube shims. The more industrious may choose to transplant the Honda shaft. Once the fixed section is fitted the top crown can be trimmed to clear the top bearing seal. I traced the seal and used a hole saw to cut through the cast steel crown. 5 photo rule continue.....
