Beautiful bike and very well done but I too think it would be even better with a front fender.
Bikes at present:
83 XL 600r with a 2004 XR650L engine
And a slightly worse for the wear BMW GS adventure bike awaiting repair
83 GL in process

Re: 1984 GL1200 Interstate to Naked
Really? I got an 82 Aspy that is down to the engine, Front clip and next is to remove the engine. I know I will want to (ugh, do I have too? YES son you have too!!) re-do the stator, clutch, and starter clutch while I have it out and when I saw this I was like, Holy Flaming Motorcycles Batman, this guy jumped in my head and pulled my idea's right outta there !!! (Great minds think alike?) While I did not consider the V-rod tail section, it does look good. But IF I can rig the gear position from the neutral switch wiring I would definitely be exited about that.Shadowjack wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2020 8:03 am Aspencade neutral switches have all five gear-indicator wires.
I have a question I did not see answered, but, those tires look sexy as Heil, where did you get them? OK FOUND THE ANSWER ABOUT THE TIRES. Guess I missed the last couple o threads.

Re: 1984 GL1200 Interstate to Naked
for the seat mounting see post #14.
the rear section mounts just like the vrod to the back fender portion.
The front section is with velcro.
I welded 2 metal plates in at the right height and then velcro to both the bottom of he seat and the metal bars.
I did have to trim some of the plastic on the bottom of the seat pan to make is sit flat.

Really like the V-Rod rear fender and seat. Looks cool but not a fan of no front fender. Awesome build!
